The ring prevents unnecessary reflections inside the ML Dome Port when used with the SELP1650 lens. With the SELP1650 zoom gear attached, the combination will prevent internal light reflections from the built-in flash.

The pad prevents internally reflected light from the built-in flash when using the ML Dome Port and SEL16F28 lens with either the VCL-ECU1 or the VCL-ECF1 converter mounted.
