M77 Internal Correction Lens and M82 Internal Correction Lens

The photo on the left is "Internal Correction Lens Mounted". The photo on the right shows the lens with the internal corrector lens attached.
The internally corrected lens is designed to improve the resolving power by two apertures (suppressing image curvature and distortion) at the wide end angle of view, enabling clear images right to the periphery of the image.
