Featuring a circular light tube—the first since the YS-250PRO—and a specially designed reflector, this lamp delivers uniform light distribution with minimal unevenness. The light spreads beautifully in a circular pattern, enveloping the entire subject and creating soft, natural-looking shadows.

The color temperature is designed to be 5,600 K, which is close to that of sunlight during the day. By applying an amber coating to the discharge tube, the lamp reproduces a natural, soft light.

Typically, attaching a diffuser tends to cause changes in color temperature, but this product features a specially designed diffuser. Even when attached, the color temperature remains unchanged, ensuring consistent color reproduction.

When using the proprietary lithium-ion battery (SB-L02), the flash achieves an incredibly fast recycle time of 0.8 seconds at full power and 0.2 seconds at half power (-1.0 EV). This frees you from the stress of waiting for the flash to recharge, ensuring you never miss that decisive moment.

The continuous shooting function is extremely effective for capturing the unpredictable behavior and fleeting moments of underwater creatures. However, with standard strobes that take a long time to recharge, the flashes cannot keep up, resulting in choppy footage.

The YS-D130R (when using a dedicated lithium-ion battery) can provide continuous illumination for 10 seconds while shooting 5 to 10 frames per second at -3EV. With its outstanding tracking performance, it captures the decisive moment without missing a beat.

Equipped with an RC mode compatible with OM Digital Solutions’ “OM SYSTEM Wireless RC Flash System.” It precisely controls the flash output via digital light signals from the camera, enabling accurate exposure. When used with a compatible camera, it delivers a more comfortable and flexible underwater shooting experience.

“DS-TTL II” is SEA&SEA’s proprietary advanced automatic exposure control system. It offers high compatibility with a wide range of camera systems, delivering stable exposure and precise synchronization.

It tracks the camera’s TTL control in real time to provide natural, balanced lighting. Furthermore, the YS-D130R features improved flash timing accuracy, enabling even more stable automatic exposure than previous models.

To set it up, simply match the strobe’s mode to the channel of the connected system (camera and housing). The settings are clearly displayed on the LCD panel, allowing for hassle-free setup.

The flash sync speed for DSLR and mirrorless cameras is generally around 1/200 of a second. If you use a shutter speed faster than the limit at which the shutter curtain is fully open, a black shadow (the shadow of the shutter curtain) will appear in part of the frame.

With HSS (High-Speed Sync) photography, the flash continues to fire at ultra-high speeds even while the shutter curtain is moving in a slit-like opening. This overcomes the sync speed limit and ensures uniform, stable lighting across the entire subject, even at high shutter speeds.

Compatible with both the dedicated lithium-ion battery pack (SB-L02) and readily available AA batteries (nickel-metal hydride or alkaline). This allows for flexible operation tailored to your shooting style and environment. This dual-power system is a major strength unique to the YS-D130R.

By incorporating a circular light tube, the target light is positioned at the center of the illumination area (on the same axis). This enables precise lighting with no misalignment relative to the subject.
Particularly when shooting with a snoot, the illumination axis of the target light and the light axis of the strobe are perfectly aligned, eliminating any wasted light. This also allows for quick and precise adjustments of even the most subtle angles.

Additionally, a red filter is built into the center of the included diffuser to reduce stress on light-sensitive organisms. The target light’s intensity can be continuously adjusted from 5% to 100%, supporting precise lighting tailored to a variety of environments.

In environments where water or air temperatures are extremely low, battery output may decrease, potentially causing unstable operation or inaccuracies in the remaining battery level display. Turning on Low-Temperature Mode ensures the device delivers its full performance even in cold environments, such as during winter or while diving among drift ice.

The newly designed battery rear cap features a sealing surface positioned on the side facing the strobe body. Its design has been enhanced to minimize the ingress of water droplets into the battery compartment when opening and closing the cap.

Furthermore, the design securely anchors the battery inside the unit, preventing accidental drops during battery replacement. It boasts a high level of safety and provides a reliable feel in any diving environment.
